José Carreras occupies a privileged position in the music world. Born in Barcelona, he studied music in his hometown. In 1970 he started his professional career in the Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona with Nabucco and Lucrezia Borgia.
In 1972, Ovation magazine described the voice of a young man making his debut as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at the New York City Opera. It was "a honeyed lyric tenor, richly coloured, clear and true and possessing a sensual beauty that is quite extraordinary." The young man with the sensuously beautiful voice was José Carreras.

It is the new touring production of La Fura dels Baus which had its worldwide premiere on May 7th 2010 at the TABAKALERA’s venue in San Sebastian. A version of the regrettable tragedy of Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus, the first of his tragedies and in which we can find, potentially, the tragedies he wrote later: Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, Macbeth,….

The development of the play presented us with an anthropophagous banquet in which the tragic end of almost all the characters happens. Chosen for this reason makes us easy to include the gastronomy in our language, a new door to get to one of the senses that we hadn’t acceded before. We have now the opportunity to work with aromas and tastes to recreate, in each step of the tragedy, a sub world of new feelings added to the ones already brought by the piece.

La Fura dels Baus is a constantly evolving company which, since its foundation, has taken on new challenges in the world of scenic arts. Its actions and performances have caused considerable impact both with critics and the international public.

La Fura performed the opening ceremony of the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, which was televised and seen live by more than 500 million spectators. This event marked a before and after for the company, and since then La Fura dels Baus has diversified its work, carrying out text-based theatre, digital theatre, macro street events, opera, production of projects of contemporary music and corporate events. The fusion of techniques and disciplines defines the Fura language.
